Named the No 1. Attraction in Cardiff

Doctor Who Up Close Cardiff – the phenomenally popular exhibition showcasing Doctor Who props, costumes and monsters at the Red Dragon Centre, Cardiff Bay – was recently named the number one attraction in Cardiff.

The exhibition was chosen for the number one spot by The Mail on Sunday – with over six million readers in the UK each week - for their feature ‘Six things you must do in Cardiff’, published on January 21.

Since opening in the heart of Cardiff Bay in December 2005, Doctor Who Up Close Cardiff continues to attract Doctor Who fans, young and old, who dare to meet creatures such as the Cybermen and the strange looking Ood. Visitors can also meet K9, encounter the famous Daleks and see costumes worn by the Time Lord and his assistant – plus a range of props from throughout the series.

As the feature mentions, Cardiff is also the main location for the filming of Doctor Who, Torchwood and the Sarah Jane Adventures, and as such, Doctor Who Up Close Cardiff sits right in the home of Doctor Who. Visitors to the exhibition are within easy walking distance of many of the key locations seen in the programmes.

And, alongside the Cardiff site, other Doctor Who exhibitions – run by Experience Design – continue to appear across the UK. The largest ever Doctor Who Exhibition is now open at Earls Court London, while the Land's End tourist centre is hosting a smaller Doctor Who Exhibition. And not forgetting the Classic monsters, props and costumes from the past forty years of Doctor Who, which can be found lurking within the ‘Doctor Who Museum’ on Blackpool Promenade.

The Doctor Who Up Close Exhibition Cardiff is open every day from 10.30am to 7.30pm and includes an extensive sci-fi shop, featuring the largest range of Doctor Who merchandise in Cardiff with toys and collectables for every age. Tickets can be purchased on the door and each admission receives a wristband, which is valid all day.
